Search me, O God, and know my heart: Try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting. ~ Psalm 139:23-24
Each year in May we have a Daughters event at our church around Mother’s Day to honor all women who are striving to create a life that is pleasing to the Lord. Each of us needs encouragement and Bible wisdom to build Christian homes and lives, especially in this day and age. I pray this website is helpful to each reader. We appreciate your visits with us and hope you will pass along any content that you feel will be a blessing to others.
This year the theme of our annual event we called “Daughters Night” was “The Woman God Sees.” Do you ever wonder what God sees when He looks at us? He knows all of our thoughts and shortcomings but loves us anyway. This love extends all the way to the Cross. How is this undeserved love possible? When God looks at us who are Christians, He sees His Son in us because we have accepted Christ as Saviour. The blood of Jesus has been applied to our hearts and we are clean and made worthy because of Christ's sacrifice on Calvary.
But how can we see what God sees? The Bible tell us there is a way. It's called the mirror of God's Word.
But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed. ~ James 1:25
I encourage you to read the blog post about Peninnah where we discuss in depth how the Bible helps us to add and to correct the things that others can see in us but that we cannot always see in ourselves unless or until we are told or we look into God's spiritual "mirror." The Bible is our mirror and this is how we see ourselves as God sees us...loved, of great price, forgiven...
How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them! If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.
Psalm 139:17-18
But why don't we choose to see in ourselves “The Woman God Sees”? Is it because we override God's words and choose to live in doubt and disbelief instead? Here are some lyrics to a song that inspire me in this area:
“You were sent to the earth and the Father looked down while the angels surrounded that place. They knew the truth…all you could do if you have eyes to see what Heaven sees in you.
The Father now lives in you, Woman of Worth,
Woman of Promise, Daughter of the Divine.
Will you have eyes to see what Heaven sees in you?”
So many times I wonder, “If God can see these things in me, then why can’t I see them in myself?” Why is the reflection that comes back to me ugly, unlovable, unsuccessful, unhappy, discontent, and on and on. Social media makes us believe that everyone else but us has a beautiful or full life. We see the positive things in others but the negative in ourselves.
So how can we learn to see ourselves in God's image instead of through a negative lens of self--loathing?
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. - 2 Corinthians 3:18
First, we must know that we are saved. If you have any doubts, here is the "simple plan of salvation" to help you know for sure that Heaven is your eternal home:
The Bible Way to Heaven
1. Realize God Loves You ~ John 3:16
2. The Bible Says All People Are Sinners ~ Romans 3:23
3. There is a Payment for Sin ~ Romans 6:23
4. Christ Paid for Your Sins ~ Romans 5:8
5. Pray to Receive Christ as Your Saviour ~ Romans 10:13
The next thing we must do is refuse to listen to the devil when he places doubts in our minds, whether about our salvation or about the talents and abilities God has given us. The Bible gives a sure way to do this but it includes 2 tools we must use to overcome. They are: knowing you're saved because the blood of Christ is applied to your heart and then being able to testify of that. In a few weeks, we will be adding a new page to our website called, "The Power of a Personal Testimony." There you can print out an outline that helps you to know how to share both your personal testimony of salvation and how God is working in your life.
And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony.
Revelation 12:11
Lastly we must focus on the promises found in God's Word. I challenge you to write out and post Bible verses around your house and in your car that remind you of how much you are loved and forgiven and of a great price in God's sight.
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. ~ Jeremiah 29:11
God has a plan for every life and if women will turn to Christ and be saved, they can learn of His truths. I love each reader and pray that you will overcome the doubtful thoughts that will arise and embrace the unconditional love that God offers you. Then you can live in the victory of knowing how loved you are by your Heavenly Father. When we do this, we will find true satisfaction, peace and contentment because we are choosing to see "The Woman God Sees".
